Premier/Twenty20 Match Reports - Week 12 (30-Jun,1-Jul 2018)

RCC @ CSCC–Stars : T20 – 2 pm Saturday June30, 2018 at Memorial Park, Colorado springs - Reported by Narayan Madabusi(CSCC-Stars)

RCC won the toss and elected to bat. Prasanna and Hamayun started bowling for CSCC. Anything pitched up was swung hard by RCC's openers Adarsh and Vikesh. Adarsh fell quickly, but Vikesh was going strong at the other end. Hamayun also removed Sreenivas early. CSCC's first change bowlers Narayan and new comer Manveet kept a tight lid on RCC's scoring. Manveet was unlucky not to get his debut wicket. He bowled with good pace and bounce. Narayan on the other end was lucky to get Vikrant's wicket off a full toss. Abhijith and Vikesh consolidated and kept the score ticking. Vikesh got out trying to up the scoring rate. CSCC introduced Tarun, who bowled a very tight line and length. He took 3 wickets in his short spell and gave just 5 runs. Kaushik and Srikanth scored few runs to help RCC to get to 101.

CSCC lost Santosh quickly, but Kervyn and Sandeep played positively to put the game out of RCC's hand. Sandeep was solid as usual. Kervyn was his aggressive self. Kervyn got out caught behind off Srikanth's bowling. Vikas started off with a beautiful cover drive for four and then chased a wide delivery to get caught behind. Hamayun joined Sandeep and took CSCC to brink of victory. Sandeep got out (44) trying to go for his 50 when CSCC needed 1 run to win. Adarsh, Akilesh, Srikanth and Vikas claimed one wicket each.

Man of the Match: Sandeep Dubbaka for his patient and steadfast 44 in (61).

BCC @ FRCC-B : Twenty20 – 10am Sunday July 1, 2018 at Lower garden acres, Longmont - Reported by Manohar Karthikeyan(FRCC-B)

A beautiful day for cricket is what both teams expected when they left for the ground but it turned out to be not so good for playing cricket. Somehow the sprinklers had been turned ON at the ground which made the whole pitch and the ground look like a pool. After some discussion with CCL EC, umpires decided to start the game at 10am giving enough time for FRCC-B to work on improving the ground condition. FRCC-B players bought the necessary tools to dry up the pitch to get a game. The water was removed from the pitch and the sun god was helping the cause in drying the pitch.

The game finally started even though it was not the best condition to bat on. Toss was in favor of FRCC-B who decided to bowl. BCC batsmen started cautiously since the ball wasn't travelling. Benjamin hit some good shots and FRCC-B bowlers were helping the batsmen by giving extras. Kalyan started things off with Hardik’s wicket. Rajesh and Vaibhav ran through BCC’s line up as Benjamin fell for a well made 28. After Benjamin departed Jimmi took the responsibility but Rajesh cleaned him up. Good Fielding from FRCC-B restricted BCC to 88 with four run outs.

FRCC-B started off with Kalyan and Gandhar who played well. Jimmi made it difficult for FRCC-B by removing Gandhar. But this didn't stop Kalyan who was hitting the ball well. Rajesh joined Kalyan who was playing with ease. Jimmi got another breakthrough by getting Kalyan with his clever bowling. Sudarshan then came in to bat. Rajesh and Sudarshan were playing well as the FRCC-B camp were relieved. Benjamin then got his lone spinner Om to bowl who removed Sudarshan. Shinu joined the party for BCC to remove the next three wickets in a row. Rajesh on the other side was holding the team together single handedly. Om then removed Rahul, when it looked like BCC was making an unbelievable come back. But huge shots from Rajesh got FRCC-B home. It was indeed a nail biting finish.

Thanks to FRCC-B and BCC players who helped in getting the pitch ready for the game.

Man of the Match: RajeshKumar Jha for his brilliant batting performance of 30 and bowling 4-1-7-2.

FCCC @ LCC–T: T20, 3.00 PM Sunday, 1st July 2018, Cornerstone Park Ground, Littleton - Reported by Aashish Janoria (LCC-T)

The two teams LCC–T and FCCC played on Sunday. It was a hot afternoon with a little wind. Both the teams played in good spirit.

LCC-T won the toss and elected to bat first. Had a decent start with Nayab hitting good strokes. He was supported by a good knock by Vijay before he was trapped while trying to go for a big hit over long-on (25-1).The inning slowed down after Nayab’s dismissal, but the partnership between Manoj & Chandra stabilized the inning before Chandra was run-out trying to take a cheeky single. Manoj continued the batting along with Imran and kept the score board ticking. They both ran extremely well between the wickets and contributed significantly towards the score. Imran and Randika played a critical role to get the score past 140 in the last two overs by hitting a couple sixes and taking some really sharp singles and doubles. LCC-T ended their inning with a score of 143-7.

In response, FCCC started off slow and steady. Omer and Darshan formed a good partnership and gave a comfortable start to the team. However, Randika came along from the far end, and bowled extremely well – considering he hasn’t played in 5 years. He was quick and bowled a great line and length. He took the wickets of Naveen and Sagar putting LCC-T in the driving seat. Despite of this, Santanu showed tremendous patience and continue to build his inning. Dipal and Santanu were on the crease for a while and played smart cricket by taking singles and doubles until Dipal was bowled by a great delivery from Shlok. The strategic field placement by LCC-T not only prevented runs but started to build pressure on FCCC batsmen. To end things, Manoj was given the ball to bowl the last over. He bowled extremely tight line and bowled an excellent over enabling LCC-T to bag their first win of 2018!

I am pleased with the way both the teams played and congratulations to LCC-T on winning this hard-fought match against one of the best teams in the league!

Man of the Match: Manoj Kumar Prakasam for his patient batting along with taking wickets and bowling the last over under tremendous pressure.

CCB @ MHCC: T20 – 11.30am Sunday July 1, 2018 at Longmont Lower Acres Garden, Longmont - Reported by Preetham Naik(CCB)

The match was delayed by two and half hours due to delay in finishing earlier game and wet ground conditions. Finally, we decided to commence the game at 2pm. The match was shortened to 18 overs each innings in order to have the game completed in time. CCB won the toss and elected to bat. CCB started really well scoring 69 runs in just 6 overs with Harsha (34 runs of 21 balls) and Preetham (38 runs of 23 balls). CCB were positioned for big score, but Shiva Teja and Sai Balan ‘s brilliant bowling help MHCC grab quick wickets in the middle order at regular interval to slow down the tempo. CCB were struggling with 90 for 5 when Rajesh stepped in. Though CCB had a shaky performance in between, spectacular innings by Rajesh scoring 45 runs in just 23 balls well supported by Kanagaraj (16 runs of 20 balls) on the other end. CCB managed to put a big score of 152/6 at the end of 18th Over.

In response, MHCC got off to rough start losing Ajit in 2nd over. But Varun and Amit batted well until 10th over when Varun was dismissed by Kamal by his brilliant spell. LCC-T @ DCC: T20 - 8am Sunday July 1st, 2018 at Cornerstone Park, Littleton - Reported by Chris Chew(DCC)

DCC won the toss and elected to bat first. With a beautiful Colorado summer day ahead, both teams were eager for the win.

DCC started very strongly with an awesome partnership from Manjinder and Pranveer. They were able to take the score to 92 with the loss of Pranveer for an impressive 33 off 28 balls. Manjinder was then joined by Harpreet who scored a quick 17 off 9 balls. Sameer was next in and was able to support Manjinder and scored 36 off only 18 balls without losing his wicket. The star of DCC’s batting performance was Manjinder, who ended up with an unbeaten 101 off 68 balls. Thanks to Manjinder’s incredible batting, DCC was able to post a team record score of 207. The only bowler to make any impact from LCC was Manoj with 2 wickets (2 bowled).

LCC made a courageous attempt at chasing down DCC’s big total, but ultimately came up short, posting a total of 171 off 18.4 overs. The star of DCC’s bowling line up was Harish with 3 wickets off 4 overs and only 15 runs. He was well supported by Harpreet and Santosh who took one wicket each respectively.

Man of the Match: Manjinder Singh for his maiden CCL century with an awesome knock of 101 runs.

CSCC-Stripes @ LCC-L: T20 - 10am Saturday June 30, 2018 at Cornerstone Park, Littleton - Reported by Raj Chitikila (LCC)

Stripes won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the day belonged to the Lions bowlers who bowled very well as a group to not allow the batsmen to get going. Varun was the lone bright spot for CSCC, top scoring with 11. LCC's Bodhayan (3/16) and Shailesh (3/25) led the way, restricting Stripes to a modest 74 runs in 17.1 overs.

Chasing the low total, Rezwan made sure there were no hiccups, blasting a beautiful 48* off 35 balls with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Sudheer bowled superbly, getting 2 wickets for just 9 runs off 2 overs. Led by Rezwan, LCC wrapped up the chase in the 11th over.

Man of the Match: Bodhayan Chakraborty for his excellent bowling figures of 4-0-16-3.

Denver Dynamites @ LCC-Lions: T20 - 2 pm Saturday June 30, 2018 at Cornerstone Park, Littleton - Reported by Raj Chitikila (LCC)

Lions won the toss and elected to bat, kicking off an early July 4th fireworks display of brutal hitting by both teams. Karthik relished his promotion to opener and had some nice hits for his run-a-ball 17 before he needlessly ran for a non-existent double, committing suicide by run out. Rezwan came in and continued his fine form from the morning, scoring a fabulous 47 off 36 balls, unluckily missing out on his fifty in his second straight game. In all, Rezwan scored 95 runs for the day, showing why LCC is fortunate to have him. Meanwhile, there was the small matter of Dhiren Patel's batting. Against a very good bowling attack, he unleashed his full repertoire of shots. The bowling all came alike to him and balls were dispatched with ferocity, particularly square of the wicket. Some of his shots landed a good 30 yards beyond the ropes! DDCC's bowlers were hapless in the face of Dhiren's onslaught, giving up no less than five overs that went for 20+ runs, including a remarkable 27 run over where Dhiren hit 4 consecutive sixes. By the time Dhiren got caught out in the 13th over he had scored a staggering 119 off just 40 balls with 4 boundaries and 15 sixes! Lions closed the innings at 239/3 following some quick scoring by Raj (19*) and Sakthi (18*).

Faced with the staggering chase requiring 2 runs per ball, DDCC did not go quietly into the night. Led by Kranthi (48 off 44 balls), the Dynamites showed off their own impressive batting pedigree, raining some brutal blows off all bowlers. For the day, DDCC's batsmen totaled 13 sixes of their own, including what was likely an especially satisfying six off Dhiren's bowling. Naresh (25) and Venkatesh (22) had superb cameos, helping lead DDCC to an impressive 176/9. For LCC, Karthik had a breakout performance, landing his first five wicket haul in just 3 overs, managing to entertain both teams alike by conceding 33 runs in the process.

While DDCC fell short of the target by 63 runs, this rookie club acquitted itself extremely well in all facets of the game, showing very good batting, bowling, and fielding talent. Importantly, the Dynamites showed the rest of the league that it is possible to raucously cheer one's teammates amidst bleak circumstances, and have fun without resorting to cheap shots against the opposing team. Kudos to DDCC, and fair warning to the rest of CCL to expect some impressive achievements from this club going forward.

Man of the Match: Dhiren Patel for his record-breaking day that included his league-leading 9th career century, one that was scored off a league record-tying 33 balls. Dhiren also notched 4000 runs in his CCL career.
Man of the Match: Karthik Bhaskarabhatta for his maiden 5 wicket haul.

FCCC @ DCC: T20 - 11am Sunday July 01, 2018 at Cornerstone Ground, Littleton - Reported by Santanu Ghosh(FCCC)

After winning the toss DCC decided to bat first. Dipal bowled a fantastic opening spell (2 overs 3 wickets for 6 runs) to spoil DCC’s plan of getting a big total. On the other hand, DCC was hoping to get most from their captain Manjinder who scored a century in the morning match they played. But other FCCC opening bowler Amit got rid of Manjinder when he started looking dangerous and already scored 15 runs in 8 balls. After that DCC was only able to put 95 runs on the board with help of Roshan(22 runs in 18 balls) and Santhosh(13 runs in 40 balls). Gopal’s clinical bowling spell (3.2 overs 3 wickets for 12 runs) wrapped up the DCC innings before 17th over. Other FCCC blowers Naveen, Amit, and Bhoopi ended up getting 1 wicket each.

While chasing FCCC lost their opener Darshan(6 runs in 7 balls) quite early. But other FCCC opener Omar was in the mood to close the match early. Before he got out, his aggressive 51 runs from 25 balls had already decided the fate of the match. Gopal (11 runs of 16 balls), Nikhil (14 runs of 5 balls), Venkatesh (10 runs of 5 balls) gave the necessary support to Omar. From DCC bowling point of view, Harpreet (4 overs 25 runs 2 wickets) and Manjinder( 2 Overs 18 runs 2 wickets) were their successful bowlers.

Man of the Match: Dipal Patel for his destructive bowling spell (2 overs 3 wickets for 6 runs).
