On Friday the proud 13 players of team Colorado left on a journey to Nebraska for their annual games of HCL cup. After a long drive and fun on the road reached at around 12.30 at night.

Next day in the morning reached the ground at 8.15am for 50 overs game. Hot temperature and high humidity was not in the favor of the players.

We won the toss and elected to field. Jay and Satyam started with good discipline bowling, Satyam had first success in his 3rd over and then Narayan joined the party. Rest of the bowlers kept them quite, and by taking wickets at regular interval and 2 run outs Nebraska were bundled out for 199 in 42 overs.

Satyam 10-0-56-5, Narayan 10-1-46-3.

Bhavya, Dhiren and Jay bowled economical. Nebraska team was thinking they have a chance if they bowl and field properly. But they did not know what was about to come. Dhiren and Dharam went in the opening with a win in mind. It was humid and hot in the middle of the afternoon but then it started raining fours and six's in the middle from the 2 Dangerous D's of team Colorado. They put up a partnership of 125 runs in 11.4 overs.

Colorado won the game by 6 wickets in 27 overs.

Dhiren 67 with 4/4 & 6/6
Dharam 54 with 7/4
Manjeet 37 not out.
Satyam MOM for his 5 wickets.

The annual Heartland Challenge Cup 2013 between the Colorado Cricket League and Heartland Cricket League teams was hosted at Omaha from Aug31- Sep1 2013 at Hefflinger park (South Fields) , Omaha.

On aug 31, Colorado CCL XI captain Bodha won the toss and elected to field first. For HCL Urvil Patel and Amit Phatak opened the innings. Urvil was in good touch and hammered some excellent cover drives off Satyam Singh while Jai Pathak bowled excellent on the other end , rarely giving anything to score off. Urvil fell to satyam on a yorker but scored a decent 25 off 22 balls. Sannel joine Amit but Amit soon fell to Satyam , caught behind by Dharam Patel. Skipper JJ Tanwar walked in to accompany Sannel Patel and the two started to build a partnership although runs were hard to come by as the bowling and fielding were pretty tight.

The bowling change saw the introduction of spin by Dhiren while med fast Narayan bowled from the other end. Sannel was caught by Manjeet of Narayan for 17 in 39 balls. In walked the hard hitting Deepak Navi and started to hammer the ball around the park. This period saw the best partnership where Deepak was scoring in his usual pace while JJ held on to the wicket for a 55 ball innings which saw him scoring only 17 runs. In the end after many chances JJ lost his stumps to another Satyam singh Yorker as the batsman tried to up the ante and score faster after 25 overs were bowled.

In walked the senior pro Krish and he stuck to the crease for a few overs , while Deepak kept the run rate flowing. Deepak fell to another Satyam Singh beauty taking his off stump. In walked the Jamaican Phil Blake but unfortunately he was run out in a mix up with Krish, who himself was soon out leg before wicket to Satyam for 11. Sufyaan and Nishaan tried to build the innings but were both out soon leaving HCL trailing aty 160 for loss of nine wickets. The last pair of Munir and Sami made a comeback with some hard hitting shots and scoring 21 and 11 respectively to take the team total to 199 in 42.3 overs before an unfortunate mix up led to the run out of Munir on 21.

The CCL innings started with Dhiren and Dharam - Patel, while Dharam played the anchor to perfection and scoring off every bad delivery , Dhiren went bonkers, ripping the bowling line up completely and scoring mostly in boundaries. The starting overs saw as many as 6 bowlers going for over 12 an over before spin of Sannel Patel and Urvil Patel put some breaks on the run flow.

The opening pair put on 125 run partnership in just 11.4 overs before Dhiren was out caught at long on by Phil Blake off the leg spin bowling of Sannel Patel. What followed was some excellent spin bowling by Sannel , Urvil and Krish. The 3 spinner kept a tight leash and even had second break though as Sandeep was out early in his innings, but Dharam and Manjeet kept the scorecard ticking with some sensible batting , scoring 3-4 runs an over and hitting the occasional boundary. Dharam was out for well made 54 , Satyam was adjudged LBW off Krish but Jay and Manjeet took the team home and CCL made the required runs in 28th over.

DHIREN was the best batsman and Satyam for his 5 wicket haul was adjudged man of the match.
